So we have gems, a premim currency that can buy something that gold and playtime can not unlock. This time around Dungeon Defenders is Free to Play, but the devs still needs to make money. This is the main purpose of gold at the moment. (See Uber section) You can read what they all do and equip whatever fits your builds. You can brows trough small, medium, large and uber's. These are spheres you can equip to boost stats and add attributes to your heroes. The old lady Gran Master is located in the middle of the right side of tavern. When you know your iPWR you can select a map accordingly. Your hero's iPWR is the average of all your items, you can view this below your equipped items in the Defender's Forge. You can see an items iPWR right below their logo. IPWR is like a unit of measurement on the power of your items. You can also access the Defender's Forge anywhere by hitting i on your keyboard. If you want to know how they all work in "real life" you can go in tavern, locate the training dummies on the lowest level of the tavern and try out all towers and abilities. On the top of the character tab is info, this is just some lore on your hero and what each tower and ability does. You can experiment with this as you go, resetting these points only cost 1500 gold. The stats you get from stat points are not linear, meaning the first 50 gives for example 100 in defense power, the next 50 gives 75, and the next 50 after that gives only 25. In character you can select your "skill spheres" (See the Gran Master section below) Below that, is Stats where you can apply stat points you gain from leveling up. Inventory is where items go when you pick them up. Here you have your inventory, Character info, Hero Deck and "Collections" (The last one is kind of like achievements and are mostly irrelevant, but gives some gold when you get one completed) It's located to the left of where you spawn in tavern or in a central location on all maps. This is where you will spend most of your time outside combat. When you first start out on "The Gates of Dragonfall" you will see "iPWR range: 10-15" This indicates how strong the items that drop on that map is. If you hover over the map you will see another iPWR number. Looking at the maps you will see a "iPWR x", this is the recommended iPWR of your hero. You should start on normal and start doing maps in order to get gear, knowledge of all the maps and level up your hero(s). Below that you can select difficulty, then a map. On the top you can select Quick Match or private. When you spawn, the War Table is right in front of you, go up to it and hit e. You should take some time to get to know it. The Tavern in DD2 is quite big compared to DD1. The Tavern is every Defenders place to relax and prepare their heroes for the next battle. You should make 1 of each class and try them out in the tavern. To create another hero you can press i on your keyboard, go to the Hero Deck tab and click Create Hero in the lower left. You can also buy up to 9 character slots for 450 gems each. If you're from Closed-Alpha you can have 6. You can create, I think, 4 heroes if you joined on Open-Alpha. Don't worry too much about your first pick. Select a setting you think your PC can run the game at, then in the same option, click custom, and tick off the "Enable Dynamic Shadows" in the middle on the right side. To turn it off, locate the "video" tab in the settings, then "Graphics Quality" in the lower left. Medium and high settings include something called "Dynamic Shadows" (If you're going to run on low, you do not need to do this as Dynamic Shadows is turned Off by default), this feature is going to give even the best gaming PC problems as there are some problems with it. So, how do you get the game to run a little better? Hit "esc" then "settings" (If you can't launch the game read on the sub-reddit or the official forum Here if you can't fix it, make a thread and explain what's going on) Most players are probably going to run the game on medium setting. įirst things first, the game is constantly being improved and optimized, but right now, the game doesn't run very well on most hardware/PC's. Open-Alpha has now been live for 3 days! According to SteamCharts we went from 4,000 players, to over 12,000 players! I welcome all new Defenders and since I currently have 217 hours into the game and over 2000 hours in DD1 I decided to make a little guide where I hopefully answer most of the questions new players have when starting out!.
